Bausch & Lomb recently celebrated 30 years of manufacturing lenses in Waterford, with three of the plant’s first employees on hand to cut a special birthday cake – from left: Bernard Evans, who is also celebrating three decades with the company; Colum Honan (General Manager); Liam Walsh, who holds the employee identity number two; and Paul Walsh, who is employee number one.

During the coming year, the company plans a series of celebratory events for employees and their families.

Congratulating the three employees who have been with the company since the beginning, Colum Honan said that the contribution of employees to the business since 1980 “was very much appreciated”.

He added: “I would also like to pay a special tribute to all of those who were employed in the plant over that time – now numbering more than 5,000 people, including 1,100 current employees, those who have gone on to other careers or retired, along with those who are sadly no longer with us.”
