“Bring me the head of Lafcadio Hearn”, was the seemingly blood-curdling demand issued to Town Manager Brian White at the monthly meeting of Tramore Town Council.

The call came from Cllr Joe Conway (Ind) in the course of debate on a motion he tabled, complimenting the work done by the local library in promoting literacy in the town during the summer months.

The former Primary School Principal said people of a certain vintage would remember well an excellent movie from the ‘sixties entitled Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. “I see the Manager nodding in agreement and I am paraphrasing in urging him to deliver Hearn’s head back to Tramore”, he added.
