Dunmore East Adventure Centre will star in the ‘Master’s Apprentice’ on RTE One on Tuesday, April 21st.

Karen Harris together with her business partners Rupert Musgrave and Gavin Sweeney worked with Dubliner Dan Keely who spent a week learning the tricks of the outdoor pursuit trade.

During his time at Dunmore East Adventure Centre Dan (23) was presented with challenges by Karen, Rupert and Gavin to see if he has what it takes to make it in their line of business. 

Karen and her partners started their business 15 years ago when they were in their early 20s and wanted to pursue their collective passion for water sports. 

The centre is now among Ireland’s most successful, catering for school tours, advanced sailing students and day trippers.

Fáilte Ireland’s Gary Breen believes the show provides a valuable opportunity to showcase what is on offer in the South East region and hopes it will persuade the watching audience to take a break in Ireland this year.

“Research shows that more Irish people may well consider swapping their overseas trips with a holiday in Ireland this year,” he said.

“Fáilte Ireland has recently launched an aggressive marketing campaign to persuade Irish people to take a break at home in 2009.

“This programme, spotlighting the range of outdoor pursuits to be found in the south east, will allow Irish people to consider the South East region when planning their home holiday.”

Each programme in the series (sponsored by Fáilte Ireland) recognises and celebrates the featured operator’s achievements in tourism and sees them impart their knowledge and expertise on to candidates interested in establishing similar businesses throughout Ireland.
