Entrepreneurship Conference Attracts 350 visitors to WIT

An international annual conference on the topic of entrepreneurship comes to Waterford and will attract 350 researchers from 37 different countries.
The 38th Annual Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference (BCERC), takes place from this Wednesday, June 6th to Saturday next, June 9th at the WIT Arena.
The conference is a series of six parallel sessions presenting current research and application of practice in the following domains:

* Strategy and innovation in business processes.

It is hosted by the School of Business, Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy (CEDRE) and the Irish Network for Teachers and Researchers of Entrepreneurship (INTRE).
This is the first time the conference has come to Ireland. Previously it has been held in universities worldwide including Norway, France, Switzerland, Belgium, the US, Canada and the UK.
Said Professor Bill O’Gorman, Director for Research, Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy at WIT’s School of Business: “This is the biggest and most prestigious entrepreneurship conference worldwide on focus on all aspects of entrepreneurship and enterprise creation and development. This puts the South East of Ireland at the centre of entrepreneurship research worldwide.”
BCERC, widely considered the premier conference for entrepreneurial research, was established in 1981 to provide a dynamic venue where academics and real-world practitioners link theory and practice, and to encourage and increase quality research in entrepreneurship.
Babson College, said that he was delighted that the conference is being hosted in Waterford.
“This is the first time in its 38-year history that the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference has been held in Ireland,” he said.
“Leaders in entrepreneurship research, application, practice and education from all four corners of the world will be present at this conference. Their research is integral to the development of entrepreneurship that will eventually lead to the creation and sustainability of jobs.”
In addition to the conference, and hosted in conjunction with BCERC since 1985, Babson College will hold the 2018 BCERC Doctoral Consortium Program. The Doctoral Consortium gives 25 doctoral students encourages scholars and educators to become leaders in the field of entrepreneurship education.
