Discount store BuyLo shut its Waterford doors on Friday last. The store in Boland’s Retail Park on the Cork Road opened in 2010.BuyLo is owned by Cork-based company, the Barry group, which also operates the Costcutter franchise.It’s believed that up to seven positions have been lost as a result of the decision.Speaking in 2010 ahead of the opening of the Waterford store, Jim Barry, managing director of the Barry Group said: “I am very confident indeed that the potential for the new Waterford store is excellent given its central location on the Cork Road.”Meanwhile, a professional services company with an office in Waterford is hiring additional people.
EY is set to create 600 jobs across the country throughout the next 12 months.
The majority of these will be in EY’s two Dublin offices.However, 234 roles will be spread across its offices in Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway, and Belfast.
The new jobs will include roles in technology, corporate finance, business advisory, tax and accountancy.EY’s Waterford office is located on Canada Street and offers clients in the city and beyond services in assurance, PPG, and tax.
