The Lemon Tree Café of Dunmore East, Co. Waterford, has been chosen as the Bord Bia Just Ask Restaurant of the month for October. Just Ask is a Bord Bia campaign which aims to ‘encourage consumers to look out for information on where their food is coming from when eating out and encourages chefs to provide this information on their menus’.

Owner Joan Power lists all her suppliers on the chalkboard in her café as well as giving them all a mention on her website, doing her bit to promote local artisan foods.

Speaking about the Lemon Tree Café and its suppliers,renowed food critic Georgina Campbell said, “What a mouthwatering list of suppliers Joan has on display! Beef from the family farm; carefully selected suppliers for other meats and fresh fish; Rathmoylan free range eggs produced nearby in Dunmore East; a trio of local cheeses – Eamon Lonergan’s Knockanore, Co. Waterford; Helen Finnegan’s Knockdrinna Goat’s Cheese, Co. Kilkenny and Cashel Blue from Co. Tipperary; and delicious Tipperary Ice cream all feature among the products so carefully selected.”
