The merging of Waterford City and County councils appears to be increasingly likely.
Speaking at the National Jobs Conference in Dunhill last week, Mayor of County Waterford Cllr Liam Brazil said the proposed plan was inevitable.
“It’s there now and it’s going to happen,” he said.
He added that he was in favour of such a step and said he believed it would benefit the county more than the city.
