Last Friday’s Sun Life Financial Charity Concert demonstrated yet again that maintaining sound community relations remains an integral part of the company’s culture.
During their 11 years operating in Waterford, the 360-strong workforce has organised sponsored walks and cycles to raise funds for a variety of charities, as nominated by the employees.
This year’s concert, organised by their internal Bridge Community Relations Committee, raised a staggering €30,296 for their two chosen charities for 2010, namely Waterford Hospice and the South Eastern Cancer Foundation.
On the night, Eileen O’Shea, representing the South Eastern Cancer Foundation and Gillian Kavanagh, representing Waterford Hospice, were delighted to accept cheques for €15,148 to assist with their fund-raising efforts.
The concert itself was a spectacular evening of music with Ronan Tynan, the Kilkenny born tenor, leading the line-up, accompanied by the Barrack Street Band.
