The Imagine Festival struck gold with its comedy programme bringing a reflective Konor Halpin back to The Granary and a real first bringing Scottish 5 Star Queen of Scatology to the Theatre Royal. Janey Godley is more than a potty mouthed stand-up and she has impressed a much wider audience with her books, articles and podcasts.

Exploring new territory isn’t easy and she has a deprecating style “that fat chick had better be funny” and “I don’t like people”. She did two forty minute slots and populated the stage with sectarian jokes of the “don’t kill him, he sells milk and opens late” variety.

Roll Up, roll up for a great night of comedy and music at The Forum Lounge this Saturday, 5th March. Ireland’s most rock and roll comedian, David O’Doherty, plays an intimate fully seated show followed by the Lounge’s late night BoHo Club, with a live set by The Big Lebowski. If you can’t make it early for the comedy, you can still catch The Big Lebowski and BoHo’s DJ with doors at 11.30pm and admission just €5 before midnight.

In receiving the “if.com Award” (formerly The Perrier Award) at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival, David joined a prestigious list of former winners that includes Dylan Moran, Steve Coogan and The League of Gentlemen. Doors are at 8.30pm and admission includes entry to the late night BoHo Club at the same venue, featuring a live set by the fantastic Big Lebowski.

His cutting commentary and performances cover all aspects of life and nothing is safe from his truth induced interpretations. From The Barman (Mick The Bull) to Father Finnegan, audiences relate to each character from the many parts of Irish life. A regular guest on TV and radio shows in Ireland for many years, McSavage has also appeared at all the major comedy festivals including the Edinburgh Festival.

He devised Headwreckers for the Channel 4 TV show Comedy Lab in 2008 and in 2009 he devised, wrote and starred in the six part TV series The Savage Eye on RTÉ. The show was nominated for an IFTA award for Best Entertainment Series in 2010 and the second series is back on RTÉ now.

For just €10 admission (pay on the door), you can catch 2 top Laughter Lounge comedians, Colm O’Regan and Gar Murran, followed by the fantastic live Beatles Tribute by Lebowski and friends.

Colm O’Regan has been doing this comedy lark for six years now and in that time has progressed to being one of the top stars of Irish comedy. He has played all the important festivals – Edinburgh, Kilkenny, and the prestigious “invite only” Montreal Just for Laughs.

Gar Murran won the Bulmers Comedy Competition in 2006 held in Dublin, and as a result he got to play for two nights in the Olympia Theatre to over a thousand people. He has since performed in The Laughter Lounge (Dublin & Belfast), The International Bar, Comedy Cellar, Capital Comedy Club, (Battle of the Axe) Ha’Penny Bridge Inn.

Brendan Grace returns to Forum Waterford on Saturday January 29th with a new show which features some of his most famous characters. Brendan’s latest show features new material and some ‘Old Favourites’ from his vast repertoire over the last 39 years. His sense of timing and ability to read an audience is without equal. A brilliant character actor, his ‘Bottler’ character is legendary and is now featured at every performance. Apart from his obvious ‘star quality’ in all aspects of his performance Brendan’s drawing power is enormous and the ‘House Full’ sign is the norm rather than the exception at his concerts. The genial Dubliner has a very special bond with Irish audiences and is much loved by young and old not least because he gives very generously of his time after each Concert.
