Two Waterford athletes among elite in Qatar

Athletes from 152 countries will be competing in Doha, Qatar and two athletes from Ferrybank AC are among the Irish team.

Kelly fifth in Birmingham

On Saturday last in Birmingham Kelly Proper competed in a top-class Long Jump competition at the Grand Prix Indoor meeting and despite being below her best she finished a very creditable 5th with a leap of 6.33 metres.

Club Silver in Roscommon

St Senans athletes made the long trip to Boyle Co Roscommon for the AAI ‘B’ cross country championships and also the rerun of the U/13 boys and U/15 girls races.

One of the performances of the weekend came in the women’s 3000m walk, when Susanna Malikova, achieved the second fastest time in the world this year.

Kelly retains her two titles in style

At the All-Ireland Senior Indoor Championships, athletes from Waterford clubs came home with four gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.

Kate Veale retains Pat Noctor Sports Award

Sixteen-year-old Kate Veale of West Waterford Athletic Club was named as the winner of the Pat Noctor Supreme Young Sports Star Award for the second year ‘running’ at a ceremony held in Dungarvan on Saturday last.

Fiona smashes Junior record

Fiona Dennehy was back on top of the podium at the Leinster Indoor championships in Nenagh last weekend taking gold in the junior walk in impressive fashion.

On Saturday last in Nenagh two very good young athletes from Ferrybank AC competed in the All-Ireland Juvenile Indoor Combined Events Championships and they came home with a gold and silver medal.
