All Star Concert for O’Regan children
A fundraising concert in aid of Cian, Brianna and Aaron O’Regan will be held in the Forum Theatre on Monday, July 3rd, starting at 8pm. Everyone in Waterford has been moved by the tragic deaths of Johanna, Brian and little Niamh and the outpouring of emotion and sadness has moved people to carry out many different ways of making sure the three remaining children will not want for anything financially during the coming years, at least.
The concert in the Forum will feature the very best of Waterford talent. Avalon, The Chris Doran Band, Tony Weldon, Dick Hayes, Ritchie Hayes, David Hayes, Bim Connors, Billy McCarthy and Tommy Comerford will be the featured acts. Matt Keane (WLRfm) will be the MC on the night. Tickets cost €20 and they can be purchased at the Forum Box Office, Super Value, Ballybeg, Spar, Barrack Street and from the WLRfm studio in Waterford and indeed Dungarvan.
Door prizes will be on offer and there will also be a raffle for a 2000 Euro holiday voucher, kindly sponsored by Harry Power Transport and Recovery and Harvey Travel. A wonderful night is guaranteed and although the cause is a very sad one, everyone on the bill is determined to produce a night that will live in the memory for a very long time.
28th Wedding Anniversary
Congratulations to Leslie and Matt Keane who celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on Friday last, June 23rd.. The happy couple tied the knot in Ballybricken Church back in 1978. The priest who performed the wedding ceremony on that day was Fr Stephen O’Brien, a native of Poleberry who attended Mount Sion School with Matt.
Leslie is the daughter of Tony and Bridget Murphy who were long time residents of Dominick Place prior to their move to their new home in the Holy Ghost Complex on the Cork Road. Matt’s parents were Pakie and Margaret Keane, who unfortunately are no longer with us as they have passed on to their eternal rest.
Originally from Ballytruckle, the Keane family moved to Rice Park later on. Older readers would remember Pakie Keane for his exploits with many different soccer clubs in the city such as Southend United, St Joseph’s, Bohemians and Waterford FC. He was a postman prior to an horrific accident in 1963 which left him wheelchair bound until his death. Tony Murphy was a long time employee of ACEC Ltd where he worked as a welder until his retirement. For many years he worked on the lighting and sound for the many successful ACEC Tops of the Town shows.
Matt and Leslie have three children, Kerryann, Patrick and Jonathan. Kerryann is employed with Aventis Ltd.; Patrick is an employee of Bausch and Lomb while Jonathan is a student at WIT. Leslie is employed with the Granville Hotel. Matt has been a broadcaster with WLRfm for many years in the sports department and he has also been a football reporter with the Munster Express for a long period of time.
On the day of their anniversary Matt was away in Bray working on the Bray Wanderers V Waterford United match so the celebrations were put on hold until Sunday last when the entire family enjoyed a day out together in a local restaurant. They reside in Ballytruckle Green. Leslie and Matt would like to thank everyone who sent their best wishes last weekend.

Teresa Adams seeking ancestors
The following is an e-mail we received from Teresa Adams during the course of last week. If anyone can help Teresa, please do so if possible.
“Ten years ago my daughter and I visited Ireland. We made a point of finding the Ballybricken Church. We knew our ancestors had attended the church. Their names are John Marshall and Catherine Gavan-Marshall. They were my maternal great great grandparents. They married in Bruff on Feburary 21st, 1829. They had nine (9) children and most of the godparents were from the Gavan family. Their oldest son, Edward Marshall emigrated to the USA in 1852 and was followed by his mother Catherine. There are not any Marshalls in Ballybricken now. Edward is believed to have worked on the Furnell Estate in Ballybricken. We have always regretted that we did nor spend more time in Ballybricken and find and meet the Gavan and Furnell families. We were very pleased to find your paper on the internet and news about Ballybricken was a very special surprise. Now we are returning to Ireland for the first week in July and our first stop will be Ballybricken. We want to take the time to find the Gavan and Furnell families. If you could help us, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Kathleen and Teresa Adams, 518 Calumet Avenue, Lima Ohio 45804 (419) 239-7182. e-mail. 518adams@bright.net.
