Flute Band Plays at Hunger Strike Commemoration
Carrick on Suir Republican Flute Band was honoured to take part in the National Hunger Strike Commemoration in Bellaghy, County Derry on Sunday 15th August. The band travelled on the previous day making a stop in Belfast where they went to see the Collusion Wall which was a project started by the late Seando Moore a founding member of the Carrick on Suir Flute Band.
The Band sponsored a board for the Wall and they were given an informative talk fro Sean Osbourne a very good friend of Seando’s. Band members also visited Milltown Cemetery to visit Seando’s grave and to see the Republican graves. The band stayed in the excellent Community Hall at Gulladuff and a great weekend was enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Len Broxon from Reade Finance and Eugene Fleming of Rock Rovers for generous donations and band members are now looking forward to the 30 years Commemoration next year.
