In a country that ultimately rid itself of both Oliver Cromwell and the Black and Tans, the prospect of septic tank inspectors lurking into people’s backyards ‘like peep o’ dayboys’ has angered TD Mattie McGrath.

During an intriguing exchange with Environment Minister Phil Hogan on last Thursday’s ‘Today With Pat Kenny’, Deputy McGrath queried what such inspectors would be expected to do.

“Do we want to know the colour of it now as well, Pat,” queried Deputy McGrath, before adding: “Do you want to know the shape and size and colour of it?”
