Town Council introduces new card payment system

Carrick-on-Suir Town Council together with the other local authorities in South Tipperary are phasing out the practice of Revenue Collectors doing door-to-door calls on a regular basis.

In association with An Post has introduced a new personalised card payment system has been introduced.

This easy to use facility consists of simply presenting the personalised card with each payment at any
of the Post Offices in South Tipperary or in the case of Carrick on Suir also at:

* the Fairgreen Market,

Greenside;

* Auto Power Garage,

Clonmel Road;

* Ballylynch Service Station,

Pill Road;

* JPC Quik Pick, Carrick Beg.

On payment, you will be issued with a receipt and your payment will be transferred to the Council Offices for updating to your account.

All customers have received a personalised Customer ID Card and the Town Council assures customers that the card contains no personal details other than those printed thereon.

In the event of loss or damage to the card you should contact the Town Council immediately.

People already paying their Refuse Charges by Bank Standing Order or Household Budget should continue to do so and you may also continue to pay by Post or at the Receipts Office of the Town Council, New Street or by credit or laser card at www.southtippco.ie.

At a recent meeting of the Town Council, Cllr Liam Walsh tabled a Notice of Motion calling on the Council to issue account statements on a three-month basis to customers using the new Card Payment System.

Town Clerk Michael O’Brien replied, stating that the Card Payment System operates for rent and service charges customers only and invoices for Service Charges are issued every four months and this process will continue to operate.

In relation to rents it is the intention, commencing the end of June 2009, to issue balancing statements at the end of each quarter.
