Noel Treacy who is still playing tennis after 63 years service to Castleview Tennis Club having been a founder member in 1945 was nominated by the club for a Volunteer in Sport Award. Ten volunteers from various sports clubs in South Tipperary were honoured at the annual Canon Hayes National Sports Awards. Noel has held several Officer roles in the club including Captain and President and was elected to the Munster Tennis Council from 1957 to 1976. He also played a role in Castleview receiving ‘Best Club of the Year Award’ in 2006, the club having completed new surfaces on their tennis courts and refurbishing the Clubhouse. Noel was the obvious choice of the Club committee to perform the official opening of the new development in 2005.
