All set for Food Festival

The town is all geared up to host the fourth annual Waterford Festival of Food this coming weekend, and the confident expectation is that many thousands of visitors will flock to Dungarvan over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when there will be a host of events, indoor and out, to entertain them. The Festival of Food has taken off in a remarkable way and in its short time in existence has captured the imagination of the public to a quite remarkable degree.

Headed up by the main sponsorship of Flahavans of Kilmacthomas, and with important bodies such as Failte Ireland, Waterford Enterprise Board, Dawn Meats, and Waterford County Council and Dungarvan Town Council also firmly on board by way of tangible support, this festival has gone from strength to strength in the three years that it has been held. There is every good reason however to believe that this fourth staging of it will be the most successful yet.

Many people have put in a huge amount of voluntary work in piecing the festival programme together. We’ll not individualise for the obvious reason that some names deserving of mention might be passed over, but suffice to say that those who have been most directly involved can be proud of their endeavours.

The final piece in the jigsaw will be the weather, and all of us are keeping fingers tightly crossed that we will have here days totally free of rain and hopefully splashed with a liberal supply of sunshine. If that comes to pass then the certainty is that the Festival of Food truly will be one to remember for all the right reasons. Do come to Dungarvan then this weekend and enjoy the host of events that will be on offer.
