There will be a full house at the Park Hotel on Saturday night for the gala banquet at which the Park Hotel Waterford Sport Star Of The Year for 2009 will be announced. Pierce Flynn of the Park Hotel has ensured that everything will be ship shape on the occasion and he has pulled off a major sporting coup by securing the services of former Irish soccer star Ray Hougton as the special guest.

There will be many other high profile guests as well including the mayors of Waterford county and city, Nora Flynn and John Halligan respectively. With so many big names in the line up for the overall award one cannot envy the adjudicators their very difficult and demanding task. However as in all previous years they can be relied upon to come up with a popular and deserving winner.

Incidentally the adjudicating panel is headed up by Fr. Pat Moran OSA and also comprises John O’Connor of the Munster Express, Neil Gough of WLR FM, Kieran O’Connor of Glanbia, and local journalist John A Murphy. We wish them well in their deliberations.
