Young Mother’s sad passing
We are still having to write about that awful crash involving a motor cycle and car at Colligan two weeks ago tomorrow (Thursday), and the motor car victim of it was Joan Warren, Ballyterrin Cottage, Modeligo, a young mother of three, two sons and a daughter.
Joan, who was in her early 40s, and a native of Co. Laois, was driving her car into Dungarvan when the fatal collision took place at a very dangerous link with the main Dungarvan to Clonmel road. She was very seriously injured and having been removed from the scene by ambulance to Waterford Regional Hospital she was pronounce dead a short time later.
To say that Joan was well known, well liked, and greatly respected throughout the wider local community would be merely stating the obvious. She was all of those and so much more, and for her legion of friends it is difficult, if not impossible, for them to come to terms with the fact that they will be unable to again share her jovial and ultra pleasant company at any time in the future.
Joan oozed radiance at all times, a young lady whose company it truly was a pleasure to be in at all times. She was a former hugely popular employee of GSK(Glaxosmithkline) and Sam McCauley’s Pharmacy in the Shopping Centre and at the time of her tragic death was working with the Irish Medicines Board.
She was a quiet, shy, even retiring young lady, who was just her natural self in being nice. Her involvment with a number of local organisations simply increased her popularity, and the great work she did as a member of the Parent Councils of both St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s primary schools and also as a member of the Board Of Management at St. Mary’s ay all that would ever need to be said about this delightful young lady whose life has been cut so tragically short.
Joan’s remains were removed from the Drohan Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Parish Church accompanied by a hugely representative cortege. St. Mary’s Church was packed to capacity for the funeral Mass on the Monday after which Joan was laid to rest amid poignant scenes in the adjoining cemetery.
She is survived by her husband John, her children Jamie(17), Anna(12),and Sam(10), and to them and all the other bereaved family relatives our heartfelt sympathy is extended on their immeasurable loss.
Pitch And Putt Club Improvements
Without question the Cunnigar Pitch and Club grounds on the Youghal Road and close to the seafront are among the very best in the country. That’s down in large measure to the tender loving care of its ever increasing membership.
Well the work is ongoing and work on the construction of a band new office and toilets is nearing completion and will be in pristine shape when the club hosts a major national event in July. The work on the landscaping inside the perimeter fencing is continuing apace and that too will be completed antireform the big July competition which will attract competitors from the four corners of the country. The Cunningar Pitch and Putt Club is one our town can be justifiably proud of, and with people of the calibre of T. F.(Francis) McCarthy at the helm that’s only to be expected. Well done to one and all.
