Supporting students and their diverse learning needs continues to play an important role at Comeragh College. As a secondary school, we constantly strive to become better at it. To ensure that every student in the school is provided with an education that meets their individual learning needs, €200,000 was invested in the ICT infrastructure of the school.

As part of this investment, each teacher in the school is equipped with a Microsoft Surface Pro Computer.
Using this powerful piece of equipment allows for teachers to freely move around the classroom to assist their students during a lesson and access resources pertaining to the lesson at the same time. Furthermore, using this equipment, allows for more contact time with students and this means any issues that students have with understanding work given to them is minimized.

The school has fully functioning ICT facilities with high speed internet access. This permits students and teachers to access the internet for educational purposes. Furthermore, there is also access to a mobile computer unit which houses laptops with internet access: these can be used anywhere in the school.
This means that regardless of where the lesson is taking place, the education needs of the students in the school are not compromised.

To make sure that teachers are fully cognisant of how to use the ICT resources available to them, they are provided with continuous professional development on a regular basis.

Most recently, the modern foreign language teachers in the school were shown how to use new language learning software to help students discover an interesting and effective way to learn a language.

It has been met with great positivity and the teachers are looking forward to putting what they have learned from that continuous professional development session into practice.

As a school, we are fully aware of the shortage of people studying Computer Science related subjects at University. In order to bridge this gap, we offer computer programming as a subject from First Year. This would not be possible without the ICT facilities and Computer Science teachers available at Comeragh College.

Thanks to the ICT related programmes and facilities on offer in the school, students are given an assortment of opportunities to succeed and receive an education that is specific to them.
