Heritage Week in Tullahought
All are most welcome to take part in the Heritage Week, organised by the Tullahought Heritage Council and the community group that operate there. Events will commence with an official opening on Friday, August 20th, at 8pm with a wine and cheese reception in the community centre. This will coincide with official opening of the art exhibition. At 8.30pm, there will be a Bat Walk, organised by Bat Conservation Ireland. On returning there will be a traditional session (and perhaps dancing!) in the community hall.
On Saturday 21st, the art exhibition is open to all from 3pm to 8.30pm. A lecture will be delivered at 8.30pm by Aighleann O Shaughnessy, senior architect, National Monuments Branch, OPW, entitled ‘National Monuments in State Ownership in the Vicinity of Tullahought’. Sunday 22nd sees the art exhibition continue to 5.30pm and at 11am in the local sports field, the Mike Williams Memorial Shield will feature an U12 hurling and camogie blitz. At 2pm a bus tour of historical sites within the vicinity of Tullahought will take place and a walk of the Kilmacoliver Loop will start at 3 pm.
