Recent Snowfall
The snowfall we had recently was severe in South Kilkenny, with lots of people staying indoors during the cold spell. It has been almost 50 years since we had a spell such as this, so many motorists experienced their first time driving on ice, and many children witnessed a good snow storm.
Many people decided to take a walk with their families and in most cases they met some neighbors or friends along the roads; it was just like old times, as we had time to chat and talk to the neighbors again.
On several days the tide froze in the River Suir, and on one really cold day the tide was still and light ice could be seen out as far as 15 to 20 feet from the riverbank.
It was great to have the snow for a few days, but then the thaw came and we started to see holes appearing in the roads and paths, and lots of flooding and ice.
