Legion of Mary
South Ossory Legion of Mary are running a Day Pilgrimage to Knock on Sunday 28th September 2008. Bus will depart from Murphy’s Garage, Glenmore at 6.30a.m. sharp and will stop at usual pick-up points including Hypermarket, Waterford at 6.50a.m. Bus fare €25.00. Name and money to May Cashin or any member of the Legion of Mary as soon as possible. Cost of meals a matter for pilgrim.
South Ossory Pioneers
Our September meeting was held in Kilmacow. Dinner Dance will be held in Rhu Glen on 21st November. Details of price etc. at our October meeting. Please contact your local centre if you are due Silver or Gold Pins and wish to be presented with same at Dinner Dance. Votes of sympathy were passed to the relatives of John Reddy, Kathleen Crowley and Bridie Jones. The next meeting to be held in the hall in Glenmore on 2nd October at 8.30p.m. and a good attendance would be appreciated.
Murish Walsh elected F.F. Chairman
Following the amalgamation of the Suir and Kilmacthomas Electoral areas the inaugural meeting of the Comeragh Comhairle Ceanntair Fianna Fail took place in Micilins Kilrossanty recently. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Brendan Kenneally T.D. and representatives of over twenty cumin attended.

Birthday
Congratulations to Pat McCarthy, 11 Mooncoin Heights, who celebrated his 80th birthday last weekend with a party for family, neighbours and friends.
Taekwon-Do Championship
Audrey Condon of Kilmacow, an instructor with the Kilmacow Taekwon-Do School, will represent Ireland in the International Taekwon-Do Federation’s World’s Veteran Championship, taking place this weekend in Uzbekistan. All at her club in Kilmacow wish her the very best of luck.
Coffee Morning
in Kilmacow
The Kilmacow Hospice Support Group will host a coffee morning in aid of the Hospice Movement in the parish hall, Kilmacow, from 10am to 12 noon on Thursday, September 18th. This has been arranged in conjunction with Ireland’s National Coffee Morning in aid of the Hospice. All support is welcome.
Computer Classes
Computer classes for absolute beginners will take place in the new community hall, Kilmacow, starting on Thursday, October 2nd.
The classes will run from 7pm to 9pm for eight weeks.

Mullinavat Senior Badminton Club

Set Dancing in Kilmacow
Set dancing classes for beginners will be held in the Kilmacow Parish Hall on Tuesday nights from 8 to 10pm, starting on Tuesday, September 23rd.

Coffee Morning in Gairdin an Gorta, Newmarket
There will be a coffee morning, cake sale and raffle for the local hospice at Gairdin an Gorta, Newmarket, on Saturday, September 20th, from 10am to 1pm.
Celtic Mist
Piltown GAA Club will hold a fundraising cabaret in the GAA complex on Friday night, September 19th. Celtic Mist, a very popular Waterford based group, will be featured.
They have lots of lively ballad songs in their collection.
Vintage Show and Family Day
A vintage show and family day takes place at the Royal Oak, Rathkieran, Mooncoin, this weekend (September 21st). Come along and see all the old vintage cars, tractors and machines, and enjoy the family fun.
Bridge Club
Mooncoin Bridge Club reopened recently, and will meet every Wednesday at 7.30pm in the parish hall. It is hoped to see all the members back playing bridge, and new members always welcome.
Carrick Camera Club
The newly formed Carrick Camera Club held a photographic exhibition of 73 prints from members in Portlaw Library on Sunday last. The prints can be viewed during library hours and also on Sunday next during the rescheduled Fair in the Square. Art Classes

Piltown Venue
The ever-popular Tony Bird, with top accordionist Brian Duffy, will make a return to the Piltown GAA Club Complex this Saturday night, September 20th, with dancing from 9.30pm until late. More dancing dates for your diary are as follows. Saturday 27th: Laurence Campion; Saturday, October 4th: Mary Darcy; Saturday 11th: Dermot Lyons; Saturday 18th: Pat Hogan; Saturday 25th: Brian McDermott. Lorie O’Brien tells us that some new bands have been booked for the end of the season and 2009 has been completely booked with top bands. Patrons are reminded that a ballad session takes place this Friday night, with music by Celtic Mist.
The Foyle Run
The 25th Foyle Run for veteran and vintage cars will take place on Saturday, September 27th.
The event has been organised for the past seven years by Emily Foyle, in the steps of her late father Jim Foyle, who started the Foyle Run 25 years ago.
This year, a very large number of entries will take to the roads.
The reception is at Anthony’s pub, and afterwards the cavalcade of cars will go to Kildalton College for tea, sandwiches, and a photo shoot.
The cars will then take a local scenic circuit and finish up in Lenihan’s pub in Newtown, Kilmacthomas.
Youth Club
Mooncoin Youth Club are seeking new adult leaders to help out on club nights on Tuesdays, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Contact any of the committee if you are interested.
