South Eastern Cancer Foundation
Just an early reminder that the sixth annual barbecue and country jamboree in aid of the South Eastern Cancer Foundation will this year take place with the kind permission of the Queally family at Gardenmorris on Saturday, July 19th. At present plans are being made for a new state-of-the-art cancer centre, costing over €1 million, to be built on the land provided by the City Council at Williamstown, close to Waterford Regional Hospital. Presently up to 200 cancer patients and their families avail of the services provided by the South Eastern Cancer Foundation at their existing facilities, all free of charge, and it is hoped that when the new premises are completed that many additional patients can be catered for and existing supports such as consultation therapy help, advice etc. can be expanded. It is hoped that the proceeds from the Gardenmorris function next July will go some small way to help fund the €1 million plus project, not to mention this €200,000 annual running costs. Dance music for the night will be provided by the fabulous Declan Nerney and his band, together with Jerry Walsh and the Darlass Brass providing five hours of non-stop music following the barbecued steak. So put the date in your diary: Saturday, July 19th. More anon.
