Murder Inquiry Ongoing

Garda continued to appeal for information pertaining to the murder of a 48 year old man whose body was found in a flat in the city on Wednesday morning last.
The body of Somalian national Abdi Rasheeh Kaaheen Shire (O’Connell Street) was discovered in a flat in Wellington Square in Ballybricken at about 9.20am on Wednesday morning. Garda√≠ and emergency services were called to the address and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem was carried out at University Hospital Waterford however Garda√≠ refused to release the results for what they described as “operational reasons”.
They continued to remain tight-lipped regarding details of the case but confirmed that the deceased had lived at O’Connell Street and the Wellington Square flat that where his remains were discovered was that of a friend’s whom it’s believed he had been visiting.
It is believed detectives have been working with a Garda Ethnic Liaison Officer to speak with the 30 or so members of the Somalian community living in Waterford to see if they can assist with their investigation.
