Book Launch

A full house turned up in the Woodlands Hotel on Sunday last for the launch of the Passage Hurling Club’s ‘A history of the club through the decades’. Club Chairman Terry Hayes welcomed all and gave a brief mention of the time spent in getting the book together. Famous broadcaster Micheal O Muircheartaigh did the honour and he enthralled all present with a marvellous speech in which he mentioned Passage players of old such as Paddy Donnelly, the great Vincent Baston whom he had seen play in his time and the present stars Noel Connors and Eoin Kelly. On several occasions he mentioned the youth and said they were the ones to concentrate on and nurture and at the other end of the scale he singled out a great supporter Mrs Katty Barry at ninety three years of age present for the launch.

He paid tribute to the sub committee who produced the book and said it was something that all lovers of the club should get. Vice Chairman of the County Board John O’Leary thanked the club for its great contribution to the Association in the county and said the book was a fitting way to record the club’s fifty years history. For an hour and a half Micheal autographed every book that was put in front of him and was most patient with all young and old alike. A presentation of a Waterford Crystal Vase specially engraved was presented to Micheal by long serving member Seamus Keating. Club PRO Fintan Walsh was MC for the event. Overall another historic day for Passage Hurling Club The book will be on sale in the local shops and at Ardkeen Stores this coming week end.
