Portlaw Heritage Committee has received confirmation from Waterford County Council Heritage Officer of a grant for signage for the town. The signs should be in place before the end of the year.

A very nice black marble name plaque for the wall outside the Heritage Centre has been sponsored and engraved by Eddie O’Donnell, Monumental Works, Philip Street, Waterford.

A precious framed photograph of the Portlaw senior hurling champions 1970, ‘71, ’73, ’76 and ’77 has been donated to the Centre by Jackie Whelan and can be viewed at any reasonable time by ringing 051-387203.

Thanks are due to Jim and Anne Long who allowed the Heritage Centre to copy to disk a video of The Portlaw Mercy Sisters.

Well done to the pupils of fourth class in our local national school who have created a brochure mapping out a nice walk in the locality. It also included suitable text and photographs of the area, nicely arranged on the page.
