U10 Kent Stainless Steel Semi-Final

Giving their best performance of the year to date, Gusserane led hot favourites Taghmon/ Camross by two points, 2-4 to 1-5, in the semi-final of a top-quality contest in Taghmon on Wednesday. 1 August. Unfortunately, the game was called off by the referee at half time. The teams then very sportingly agreed to replay the game the following evening, 2 August, in Ballycullane at 7.00pm. All the Gusserane boys really rose to the challenge in this encounter and were shaping up as the likely winners when a halt was called. Team: Michael Ryan (gl), John Roche, John Breen, Ciaran Conway, Jack Culleton, Donal Kiely, Martin Fitzharris, Mark Rossiter (0-3), Mark O’Neill (0-1), Ciaran Hartnett (1-0), Sam Wall (1-0). But the very strong and talented Taghmon side really sparkled in the second half, winning by 1-10 to 1-2, with their goal coming in the final minute, which was a pity for the O’Rahilly’s.

Selected for Wexford County Council

Congratulations to Martin Murphy, Dunmain, Gusserane, who was recently selected for the Wexford County Council to take the place of Sean Connick TD, who was elected to Dail Eireann. It was a popular choice as the highly respected Martin only lost out by a small number of votes for the final seat in the County Council elections two years ago. Martin will no doubt do much for the parish and district. The last man from the parish on the Council was Seamus Whelan, PC, Ballyhogue, who did excellent work for the parish and its people over the years.

Junior Hurlers Championship Draw
