Painting Competition
Chloe O’Mahony of Fethard-on-Sea was one of the prize winners in the Chapter Nine Credit Union poster painting competition. She received her prize at Wexford Credit Union recently.
Farm For Sale
A 26 acre farm and dwellinghouse located at Haytown, Fethard-on-Sea will be sold by public auction in the Brandon House Hotel New Ross on this coming Friday the 16th February at 3 p.m.
It will be sold in one or two lots and it is attracting huge interest.
New Houses to be Built at Ballyowen
Well known Building Contractors J. J. Sinnott Ltd. of Sheastown, Wellingtinbridge have been granted planning permission to build 41 new houses at Ballyowen which is just outside the village of Wellingtonbridge close to the Railway Station and former Beet Depot. The houses will be built in a lovely location.
Sponsored Walk
A sponsored walk 10km will take place from Wellingtonbridge on St. Patricks Day Saturday the 17th March in aid of the Irish Kidney Association.
The walkers will leave Wellingtonbridge at 2 p.m.

Wexford Win National League Tie
Wexford senior footballers scored a convincing 0-16 to 0-7 win over Tipperary in national league at Wexford Park on Sunday last. The team improved a lot from their form against a very good Waterford side the previous week with Ciaran Deely (0-6), P. J. Barnville (0-1), from Horeswood, Philip Wallaace, Gusserane Paddy Colfer, (Clongeen), John Cooper Adamstown, Adrian Morrissey, (Taghmon), all outstanding. They now meet Wicklow in two weeks time.
61st Wedding Anniversary
Congratulations to Davy and Ann Nolan of Ballycullane who celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last weekend. They celebrated the occasion with their children, grandchildren and great grand children. Both Davy and Ann are very active and enjoying excellent health.
Progressive 45
Two teams tied for first prize and two teams also tied for third prize at the weekly Progressive 45 Card Drive which was held in the Parish Hall Ballycullane on Wednesday night the 7th February. The results were as follows:

Tintern Community Lotto
The weekly Tintern Community Lotto took place on Tuesday the 6th February. There was no jackpot winner but there was four match three winners and each received 50 euros and they were as follows: Lucky O’Malley, Ballycullane, Jim Nolan Taraa Ballycullane, Joseph St. Ledger c/o Ballycullane, Phyllis Cahir Cleariestown, Wexford.
Successful Sponsored Swim at St. Kierans
A sponsored swim took place at St. Kierans on 12th August last. A total of 3,100 was raised in aid Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin, Dublin. The swimmers were Shane Ryan, Keith Styles, Eugene Styles Edno Kinsella, Eddie Mahon, John Creaney, Jim McCarthy, Colette Mahon, John Kinsella, Brid Stafford, Maggie Murphy, Michael Caulfield. Ronnie Murphy and Ned Finn. The organizers would like to thank everyone who helped the event to run smoothly and safely. A very special thanks must go out to Ned Finn, St. Kierans who was the man who started it all and whose enthusiasm inspired everyone.
A special word of thanks to all who donated generously to this worthy cause.
U.21 Football Selector
Last week in these notes it was stated that former Gusserane and County stalwart Liam Fardy was team manager of both the Junior and U.21 football teams for this years championships which was not fully correct. Liam is team manager of the Junior footballer alright but U.21 manager of another former county stalwart John Roche who like Liam is looking forward to fielding a useful side for the championship.
Both men and their teams are wished every success in the championship.
Shone with Wexford
Philip Wallace, Ballycullane had an outstanding game at full back for Wexford senior footballers in their 0-16 to 0-7 victory over Tipperary in the national football league aat Wexford on Sunday last.
Due to an injury sustained in training during the week Adrian Flynn Ballycullane was chosen at wing forward was unable to line out.
Plans for Lent
Lent is just over one week away, Ash Wednesday is Wednesday February 1st this year, it has been decided by the Liturgy Groups of the parish that the focus would be on Confirmation and the place of the Holy Spirit in Christian Life. There will be a special celebration in preparation for confirmation for the candidates and their parents at the 11 a.m. on Sunday the 4th March.

James Redmond and Graeme Culen Gusserane were subs on Good Counsel College U.16 football teams which won South Leinster Colleges A championship last week.
Do This in Memory
The next celebration of the “Do This in Memory Programmeâ ¬ as preparing for First Holy Communion will take place on Sunday the 18th February at the 11 a.m. Mass, it will be another significant occasion for the children and their parents.

The Liturgy Groups of Gusserane and Ballycullane meet in Gusserane Hall on Wednesday night the 7th February.
