Official Opening

The newly refurbished Barron Hall in Stradbally, which dates back to 1806 AD, will be officially opened on Friday night next 29th October at 8pm. Among the guests attending will be historian Julian Walton, who will give a brief history of the Barron Hall. Fr Jim Griffin, who was the first chairman of the hall in 1966, will also be present to share his memories of that time. Former parish priest of Stradbally Fr Michael Enright PP, who made a substantial subscription to the project, will also attend. Some of the wonderful people who voluntarily gave of their time are no longer with us, hope to see their family members present. One particular memory for me of that time is the late Paudie Flynn arriving with some crates of Guinness for the men who were hard at work putting the foundation in place. Some of the people interested in using the Hall will be in attendance on the night including John from the karate club, Emma who teaches Pilates, and Joanne who is organising a Christmas market. Stradbally’s current All-Star hero Michael Walsh, Carrigahilla, will also be present. All are welcome, and refreshments will be served.
