CBS Tramore
Basketball
Tramore CBS travelled to Kilkenny on Wednesday 10th to play a first year and second year match against Kilkenny CBS. The first years played very well but just lost out in the final minutes to lose by four points. Our second years were very much stronger than the Kilkenny team and won easily by 14 points.
Gaelic Football
Commiserations to the Tramore under 16 ½ Gaelic football team who lost to Kenmare from Kerry in the Munster championship. Tramore were forced to field a severely depleted team with no fewer than seven players injured or unavailable. Tramore fought gallantly against their illustrious opponents before succumbing to a seven-point defeat. Best for Tramore on the day were Eamonn Power (capt.) and Shane McNulty.
Hurling
First Years
Tramore CBS entered two teams in the first year seven aside hurling blitz which was held in Mount Sion last Friday. Both teams preformed well just losing one match. Those to impress were Mikey Nicholls, Liam Goodwin, Matthew Connor, Cathal Rowe, Cormac Lonergan, Ronan Walsh, Conor Douris, Alan Lennon and Dylan Hanway. All these first years deserve the highest of praise for their endeavour, enthusiasm and commitment as their friends had a free day for a school staff day while they played with passion and spirit in Mount Sion.
Rice Cup
All members of the under 14 hurling team are asked to maintain their great effort in training for the Rice cup. This prestigious competition will take place in Thurles on Wednesday March 24th and will feature some of the best teams in Munster. Tramore CBS will take on Thurles CBS, Midleton, Youghal and Clonmel in this competition.
Under 15 Munster
Last Wednesday Tramore CBS travelled to Youghal to take on Bandon Hamilton High School in the quarter final of the under 15 Munster hurling championship. Although Tramore lost by eight points there was very little between the teams in reality as Hamilton scored two lucky goals towards the end of the match. Tramore started well with a great goal from Cathal Dower and they led at half time by a point. The second half was closely contested until the stronger skilful Hamilton team pulled away in the last ten minutes. In this match Sean Colfer was outstanding displaying great skill and unceasing work rate, with Liam Goodwin, Barry Whelan and Stephen Crotty working hard while some other players did not perform to their full potential.
Soccer
CBS Tramore were knocked out of the first year cup by St. Augustines last Wednesday. In a very entertaining match the Dungarvan outfit won the match 3-0. Great credit must be given to both teams for playing the match in a very sporting manner. Special mention must be made for Ross Sheedy who agreed to play on goal at short notice performed very well throughout.
