Manager defends Tramore Volute site owners
Having called for the Volute site off Tramore’s promenade to be declared derelict, Cllr Joe Conway was reminded at the Town Council’s monthly meeting that the owners had been cooperative in relation to other locations which they owned in the resort.
Town Manager Brian White said the owners had responded positively and acted honourably when approached about other sites. He had no reason to doubt that if their auctioneer representative in Tramore was approached the required steps would be taken to clean up the site.
Cllr Conway had complained that the area in question was in rag order and it was no help to business in the vicinity – a blot on the landscape projecting a negative image. “It’s like opening a front door to a hallway full of rubbish”, he submitted.
The Manager said planning permission for the site had run out and the owners were trying to sell but there didn’t appear to be much interest.
Cllr Conway said if it was cleaned up it would come as a welcome relief to business people adjacent to it.
Mr White said the owners had helped out with car parking space and access issues. Furthermore, he didn’t believe the site had a detrimental effect on trade in the area.
