Rate reduction welcomed
The financial rate is down by over 15 pc from €2.3576 to €2. With the resort’s effective valuation standing at €16,435, that will yield €32,870. And with income from the renting of Tramore House coming to €28,100, that amounts to total, balancing income of €60,970.
Mr White pointed out that the Tramore House rent might rise to €29,500 in line with the Consumer Price Index and if it did the extra €1,400 would go towards the Coastguard Station.
Given the current economic climate, Cllr Tom Raine asked that, in the interests of transparency, the annual report in future contain expense amounts claimed by each Town Councillor. He also suggested that members who were also County Councillors should claim expenses for attendance at conferences from that body. It had a budget of something like €60 million, compared with the Town Council’s €60,000, he pointed out.
