A White Collar Boxing night was held in Tramore Boxing Club on Friday night last, 6th August, in aid of the Kealan Hurley Illness Fund, a young man from Tramore who has a great love of boxing and is a member of Tramore Boxing Club. Kealan was struck down with a serious illness and is making good progress at the moment.

A host of current and former boxing stars made an appearance on the night as well as Davy Fitzgerald and Eoin Kelly from the Waterford hurling team. In attendance were Kenny Egan Olympic Silver Medalist, Michael Carruth Olympic Gold Medalist, European Silver Medalist Darren O’Neill, Irish Senior Heavyweight Champion Con Sheehan and our own former National Boxing Champion, Neil Gough. Jockeys Kenny Whelan and Danny Grant also joined in the fun.

The night consisted of 13 boxing matches with local GAA clubs Tramore and Roanmore providing several of the boxers as well as 4 female boxers from Tramore. The night was a huge success and the club was jam packed well before proceedings got underway at 8.00pm. Lots of money was raised for the illness fund and it was great entertainment throughout for the huge crowd.
