Tramore swimmers raising funds for Waterford Hospice
Waterford swimmers are showing a real competitive streak this summer in the swimming stakes. Hot on the heels of Alan Smith’s announcement of his English channel plans, several local swimmers are organising their own fundraiser in aid of the Waterford Hospice to take place this Saturday, August 28th.
The 3-mile swim of Tramore bay is being organised by Sarah Howard, in memory of her grandmother, Maisie Bishop, who completed the swim, in September, 1931. Maisie was the first recorded person to swim the bay.
Sarah is being joined by well-known Tramoreites Pat O’Hanlon, David Smyth, Meabh Savage, the Doyle family and Jerry Brett amongst others, many of whom are helping with arrangements for the swim.
The Waterford Hospice will be the beneficiaries of all funds raised, and any sponsorship from local people / businesses for this valiant endeavour and very worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.
