Art and the Archive Exhibition

The Art and the Archive Exhibition opens on Tuesday, August 17th at 7pm in Greyfriars gallery Waterford, as part of Waterford Youth Arts’ 25th birthday celebrations. This exhibition will run until Sat. 28th August and will include artworks inspired by archival material from the last 25 years, curated by Martin Kennedy and Kate McCarthy. Art works include drawings, paintings, photography and video by over thirty artists including: Clare Horgan, Paddy Dwan, Anthony Mackey, Alan Ruane, Tom Casey, Eric Flavin, Robert Jackson, Carol Yelverton, Margaret O’Brien Moran, Róisín Kinsella, Clare Scott, Sam Jacob, Gerry Keane, Sue Burkitt, Linda Kavanagh, Geraldine Stafford, Niall Larkin, Jill Bouchier, Anne Genevieve Hanway, Ben Hennessy, Cormac Leane, Katie Bradley, Nick Kavanagh, Martin Kennedy, Berna Lawton, Rosie Dulson, Myra Dulson, Ger Kennedy, John Cullinan, Eileen Kennedy, John O’Connell, David Brazil, Bernie Laherty, John Gallagher, Michael Durand, Jane O’Brien Moran, Boyer Phelan, Suzanne Irish and many more.

The guest speaker on the night will be artist John O’Regan, who was artist in residence at Garter Lane during its inaugural year and son of Ted O’Regan, who helped establish Waterford Youth Arts in its early years. Mr. O’Regan’s most recent exhibition took place in January of this year, and he has written and  produced four of his own plays.

Art and the Archive exhibition is open from the 17th to the 28th of August in Greyfriars Gallery, and also exhibits at Waterford Central Library.
