Author of “The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas” to visit Waterford
Award winning author of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas will visit Waterford as part of The Sean Dunne Writers’ Festival 2010. John Boyne will give the keynote speech at the Sean Dunne Young Writers’ Awards, Large Room, City Hall, The Mall, on Wednesday 18th March at 7.30pm. The author will also read from his latest work, The House of Special Purpose, at 10.00am on Friday, 19th March, at City Hall, The Mall.
Melanie Cunningham, organiser of the Festival says “The organisers of the Sean Dunne Writers’ Festival are delighted to welcome such a prestigious author to the City”. John Boyne was born in Dublin in 1971. The author of 7 novels including the international bestsellers The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, Mutiny On The Bounty and The House of Special Purpose, he has won 2 Irish Book Awards and a host of international literary prizes. His work has been translated into over 40 languages and topped the New York Times Bestseller list. The Miramax film adaptation of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas was released in 2008.
Melanie says “This is a unique opportunity for the people of Waterford to meet an accomplished writer and hear him read from his latest work”. Both events are free of charge and all are welcome to attend.
