Horizon Exhibition

HorizonArt‘Horizon’ a solo exhibition of local photographer Brendan Jackman’s work will open at the Index Gallery, Central Library, Lady Lane on Wednesday 6 January at 6pm. The exhibition will be opened by Tom O’Brien, Club Captain of the Waterford Athletic Club and will run from 4 – 16 January. All are welcome to attend.

Brendan is native of Waterford City and lectures in Computing at Waterford Institute of Technology, where he heads up the Automotive Control Group, researching software development for automotive vehicle control systems. His interest in photography goes back to his school days when he took an interest in film development while studying Physics and Chemistry. In recent years he has embraced digital photography and uses his technology and computing background to apply a “less is more” philosophy to digital photography to achieve a “clean” photographic style, devoid of unnecessary computer “enhancements” that are so often overused nowadays.

Brendan holds a City and Guilds Certificate in Photography with Distinction and has exhibited his work at the annual City and Guilds Photography Exhibition at Waterford Institute of Technology in 2009. Brendan’s work received very positive reviews in the local press. One of Brendan’s images was selected for display during the LOOK3 Photographic Exhibition in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA in June 2009. This is an international exhibition with contributions from photographers worldwide.

‘Horizon’ can be viewed during Central Library’s normal opening hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10am to 5:30pm and Wednesday and Friday 10am to 8pm. You can contact the Library desk on 051 849975 for more details.
