The classes, which cost €15, are open to all levels and normally last two hours, featuring a range of exercises which will enable participants in observational drawing of the human. The classes are varied and look at drawing techniques and anatomy. Some materials are provided such as newsprint and basic charcoal.

If you want to see more of Jonathan’s work, he’s holding his first solo art exhibition at the Cliff Gallery in 36-37 Georges Street (beside Shaws ), a ‘pop up’ of the Cliff Gallery in Dunmore East, until 24th December.

This exhibition follows Jonathan’s journey as he searches for his preferred medium and subject matter. There are examples of pencil, charcoal and graphite drawings of human figures and portraits. Watercolours and ink and wash paintings explore the immediacy of this medium as he captures urban and landscape scenes in Florence, Ischia, Croatia and Dunmore East.

The cliffs on the coast of Dunmore East have provided wonderful inspiration, he says, as they are constantly changing with the light and are the subject matter of many of his paintings. More recently, the autumnal colours of trees in the landscape and the play of light have created fascinating subject matter which Jonathan has attempted to capture in both watercolours and oils, the former often providing the initial study for the latter.
