Rayleen Clancy ‘LAX–SNN’ Solo Exhibition
An exhibition of 16 watercolour drawings retracing the journey from Los Angeles to Ireland by Rayleen Clancy will be hosted in the Old Market House Arts Centre, Lower Main Street, Dungarvan, Co Waterford from March 5th to April 17th 2010.
Rayleen is daughter of the late Tom Clancy, a founding member of The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem. Rayleen spent her childhood years in New York and later in Los Angeles where her father starred in Hollywood movies and TV shows.
Rayleen explains “In this body of work I have retraced my childhood journey from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) to SNN (Shannon International Airport). I grew up in Los Angeles. My parents Joan and Tom were Irish and we were lucky enough to be able to come ‘home’ every summer. The minute school was out we were on the first flight to Ireland. My father Tom Clancy served as a navigator in the RAF during WW2 and his interest in aircraft navigation made a great impression on my childhood imagination and I was fascinated by flying, maps and adventures.
