UB40 will headline Daytripper in Waterford on Saturday, July 4th.

Two of three nights at Waterford’s live music festival Daytripper in July have now been confirmed. The festival, now in its third year, will be headlined by UB40 on Saturday, July 4th and by The Darkness the following evening, all at the Bolton Street Car Park.

The main act on the Friday night has yet to be confirmed but promoter Mick O’Keeffe said it will be of a similar calibre to the other headliners.

UB40, featuring founding members Ali, Astro and Mickey, play an exclusive 2015 Irish festival show at Daytripper. They’ll be joined on the night by Soul II Soul, Tucan, The Whereabouts, Thank Funk (who went down a storm at last year’s Electric Picnic) and Waterford ska legends Skunk.

The Darkness will make their first headline Irish festival appearance at Daytripper since they topped the bill at Oxegen 2004, the same year they headlined Reading & Leeds Festival.

Support on the Sunday night will come from Riptide Movement, the ultimate festival party band Smash Hits, Propeller Palms and local acts Mad Ferritt and the Electric Movie Band.

Tickets (€39.50 per day/€90 for the weekend) are on sale now at www.daytripper.ie and the Theatre Royal box office (051-874402).
