Review: Clash of the Titans
When the King and Queen of Argos anger the gods by destroying a monument of Zeus and declaring the beauty of their daughter Andromeda was greater than any goddess, they provoke Hades to unleash the Kraken, a terrible beast on the city.
When a fisherman called Perseus family is killed by Hades, he vows to kill the god, but what he doesn’t realise is that he is the son of Zeus and part god himself. With the help of Io, Draco, Pegasus and a group of soldiers, Perseus must find his way to Hell and back.
Perseus for me was a mix between the honor and pride of Russell Crowe’s Maximus and the kick-ass action of Jason Statham. Unlike most hero characters, he actually makes his own decisions instead of reacting to the actions of others and refreshingly he wasn’t made say some of the boorish things most macho heroes are. All in all he was quite enjoyable to watch however Sam Worthington’s Australian accent seemed really out of place when almost everyone else’s was English.
Another thing I found odd was that Medusa was a CG character instead of being played by an actress. Io, played by Gemma Arterton really needed just to look pretty, which she does very well.
Sadly, Princess Andromeda is one of the underdeveloped characters in the film and because of that, you don’t really care if she’s sacrificed to the Kraken or not. Although Ralph Feinnes looked creepy as Hades, he reminded me too much of Lord Voldemort.
It must be said though, the CG effects in this film were pretty amazing, and the best examples of this would have to be the Kraken, Pegasus, and the ferry boat used to reach the under-world.
When a film is fast paced with a decent script, great cast and even better graphics, paired with the fact there were no mushy love scenes, it is bound to be enjoyable for adults and kids.

The original from the ’80s was better. Anna Manahan was in it.
