St Trinian’s 2: & The Legend of Fritton’s Gold

StTriniansIt’s back to the usual crazy antics at St. Trinian’s school for young ‘ladies’, although it seems more like a fancy dress party with physics class being used to invent hair styling machines.

The girls hear of Miss Fritton, the headmistress’s ancestor Captain Fritton the gallant pirate who after stealing a vast amount of treasure, left a map for it to be found. However, the girls aren’t the only ones treasure hunting; they must stop the chauvinistic Lord Pomfrey from getting there first.

Colin Firth and Rupert Everett continue the romance of Geoffrey and Miss Fritton with the usual hilarity that splits your sides and comical acting by Zawe Ashton as Bianca The ‘Chav’ and Montserrat Lombard as Zoe the ‘Emo’. The Directors even manage to stick in a ‘Golum’ gag (my precious!!) which was completely unexpected and hilarious.

Sadly not all is well. Even with hilarious lines such as, “Death is like life with the crap taken out of it – poverty, faschism and Miley Cyrus”, the bizarre scene where the head girl Annabell is possessed just seems too out of place. Also, Sarah Harding’s character Roxy seemed unnecessary considering the fuss that was made in the school at her arrival.

Although many sequels are a let down, I left the cinema with a smile on my face after seeing this film. With plenty of one-liners to laugh at, it’s a great one to go see with friends. It has to be said, the St.Trinian’s girls have to have one of the best school anthem’s, ‘We are the best, so screw the rest, we do as we damn well please, until the end St.Trinian’s, defenders of anarchy!’
