Greenshine are Copper Coast Bound

e4s1 pic 1Waterford native Mary Greene returns to play en famille as part of Greenshine at the Copper Coast Geopark, Bonmahon at 8pm on Thursday, 5th June. Readers may remember the Greene family’s tenure of The Anchor Bar in Dunmore East, which put Waterford on the national music circuit in the 70’s and 80’s. Mary has made a life in music ever since with husband Noel Shine. The duo are no strangers to recording having already released four critically acclaimed albums to date and they have appeared on many other artists’ cds including The Republic of Loose, Christy Moore, John Spillane and Frances Black. Greenshine not only sees the launch of a new cd but also a new band name to incorporate their daughter, Ellie Shine. At just 17, Ellie is a seasoned professional, performing with Noel and Mary since the tender age of 14. Her cv includes appearing with Greenshine at a concert for President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina at the Abbey Theatre as well as concerts at Waterford Spraoi and the Cork Folk Festival. The group has shared a stage on a number of occasions with Christy Moore. Greenshine plays acoustic based modern folk with tight family harmonies and exquisite instrumental turns. A night not to be missed. For information and tickets, contact the Geopark at 051-292828. “This is a gorgeous album ~ the Sound of a Family immersed in music, tight in harmony, in love with song. Shine on Greenshine.” – Christy Moore.
