Health & Fitness with Mags Murphy

Hello everyone
Once again I hope you are all doing good and keeping fit and healthy. I really hope that you are getting something from my piece every time and trying to implement some changes into your life.

This week I want to share my love for Pilates with you all. It has become a real passion of mine and I would love everyone to give it a go. I was teaching a Pilates class in kingfisher last week. The class was busy with lots of new participants.

For me as a teacher this meant that I had to really explain and reinforce the meaning of Pilates. In doing this it also reinforced how functional Pilates is and how important this is to me.

I wish I could explain to you how I feel about it or be able to get my point across to maybe inspire you to realise how important it is to exercise. I wish I could wave a magic wand and you would feel that amazing post exercise euphoria and see how it will make changes to the quality of your life both physically and mentally.

There are lots of things we can’t control. What we can control is how we treat our bodies. Exercise and Pilates will help defy the ageing process. It will keep your body strong fit and flexible. Why would you not want to do this? The first step is the hardest, after that you will thank yourself.

Pilates is also great for your mind. I work on participants being at one with themselves in the class. It’s all about you, it’s your time to switch off and focus on your body. It’s a little “me time”. How important is this?

I realise hard core exercise and sweating it out in the gym isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but Pilates can be.

Regardless, don’t let yourself go. Do something for YOU today
