Baroque Masterworks at the WIT College Street Chapel on Thursday, 12th June will be a must-see for lovers of orchestral and choral music. This concert features internationally renowned soloists, and some of the greatest Baroque music ever written. Fresh from her debut CD release on the Naxos label (one of the largest in the world) soprano Deirdre Moynihan is the featured soloist on the night. She is supported by a chamber orchestra and choir led by Marja Gaynor (Irish Baroque Orchestra & Helsinki Baroque Orchestra) and directed by Waterford conductor Niall Crowley. The programme for the evening features the joyous and uplifting Gloria in D by Vivaldi. Audiences may have heard this featured in the Oscarwinning film Shine about pianist David Helfgott. T he concert also includes Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in F for strings and Handel’s mesmeric soprano showpiece Laudate Pueri Dominum.
