‘Classic Rock’ broadcasts from Waterford

Fans of classic rock music across the South-East will be happy to know that the Waterford city based radio station, Zenith Classic Rock, returned to the airwaves on New Year’s Day for a second period of broadcasting.

The station is licensed by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and will be on air Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for 10 weekends on 103.8fm and 1584am stereo.

Zenith Classic Rock is run by local businessmen, Andy Linton and Andy Green of Total Broadcast Consultants Ltd, a company that specialises in technical consultancy work for the country’s radio and TV stations.

They believe there should be more radio stations on air throughout the country, each playing a different type of music and they hope that Zenith Classic Rock can show how a completely music-based station can sound.

Mr Green said: “When we ran Zenith Classic Rock last year, we had a massive positive response. It’s incredible that there is no full-time radio station catering purely for music fans.”

Added Mr Linton: “Zenith is a radio station for music lovers. We play music that no other station plays – we don’t pretend to do anything else. We have some excellent presenters in out line-up, including some ex-ABC Radio and RTE DJs.” The station is also available on www.zenithclassicrock.com
