Day Of The Jack L

JACK-LCurrent Hot Press cover star, Jack L, returns to Waterford to make a debut appearance in the intimate surrounds of Electric Avenue this Friday 20th November. Jack has just released a long awaited retrospective collection called ‘The Story So Far’. The album includes all of Jack’s most sought after songs re-mastered, and features bonus tracks personally selected from Jack’s favourites from over the years. For example, “Little Man” and “Hallelujah”, both boast a choir while “Old Man River” includes a full orchestra. “Ed Wood” is here live in all its frenzied glory along with all the songs you’d expect to hear from Jack’s six albums to date, “Wax”, “Metropolis Blue”, “Universe”, “The Little Universe Show”, “Broken Songs” and “Burn On”. To celebrate the release, Jack L has just played a sell-out gig at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and follows this up with a few select intimate gigs around the country, including Waterford’s Electric Avenue this Friday, 20th November.

The new CD highlights what an extraordinary singer Jack L is. Starting off with The Black Romantics and the Brel covers and then his own songs on Metroplolis Blue, the journey from the Da Club to The Point was meteoric. Indeed at times his achievements may be underestimated in Ireland, and a recent career highlight was an open air show beside Manhattan’s Brooklyn Bridge in August where Jack was backed by the NY Philharmonic Orchestra. “The Story So Far” is an epic of sorts that thoroughly deserves the acclaim with which it has been greeted at home and abroad. The gig on Friday will be followed by a late night show by The Riptide Movement, whose Jim Morrison influenced classic rock sound should go down a treat with Jack L fans.
