Hunka and Dunne at Christ Church Cathedral

hunka2As part of the very popular Coffee Concert series at Christ Church Cathedral, leading accordionist Dermot Dunne will join violinist Katherine Hunka (leader Irish Chamber Orchestra) in presenting an exciting mix of music which ranges from celebrated classics and virtuoso show pieces to a selection of works with a strong Latin flavour by great masters such as Manuel de Falla and Astor Piazzolla. The versatile accordion takes on the roles of piano, guitar and even full orchestra. Following their performances with the Irish Chamber Orchestra in late February, Katherine and Dermot will perform duo concerts in a number of concerts around Ireland. As part of the coffee concert, they will play a new work “Binary Number” by Ronan Guilfoyle, and music by Stravinsky, Scarlatti, Tartini, and Paganini. The concert in Christ Church Cathedral Waterford is presented with funding from The Music Network Performance and Touring Award. The Duo will perform again with the Irish Chamber Orchestra on tour in Ireland and on an extensive tour in China in summer 2010. Christ Church Cathedral, Sunday 21st March at 12 noon. Tickets €7 / €5 seniors & juniors / €12 for a family. www.christchurchwaterford.com
