Recession Sessions @ The Loft Electric Avenue
Four of Waterfords biggests club nights have joined forces in 2009 to bring you some fantastic international DJs for a very reasonable price. RePublik, Electric Circus, Resistance & Retech have just announced they will be hosting 10 Saturdays nights in a row with 10 World famous DJs for just 10euro each night.
Starting on January 24th, and every Saturday night after at the Loft, Electric Avenue. The aim is to bring you quality underground house & techno from our international guests & residents. The Recession Sessions kick off with the man who gave us one of the best house sets of The Loft in 2008.
ATJAZZ (Mantis Recordings, UK)
Martin Ivesons (Atjazz) Waterford Debut came in early 08 and is still one of the most listened to sets on RePublik clubbers iPod’s. Before he played the first time he was told he was is in for a super night from his longtime friend and fellow Versions partner Charles Webster. Since then Martin has been itching to come back and play for RePublik and their clubbers, and was delighted to be asked back to kick off this spectacular show case of some of the finest world renowned DJs and top class residents.

Re:Tech / January 31st – BILLY NASTY (Tortured Recordings, UK)
Billy Nasty is one of the biggest Djs on the techno scene for the past 10 years. A regular guest DJ in Waterford & is long overdue a return to the south east. Any techno fan should know Billy always puts on a great show, this is not one to be missed.
Re:Publik / February 7th – LUKE SOLOMON (Mff, Classic, UK)
Luke Solomon ran one of the best record labels in the world, Classic Music with friend Derrick Carter. Now part of Freaks with Justin Harris, Luke still releases the most music so versatile you cannot even put in a certain genre. His sets vary from deep house to techno & everything in between.
Re:Publik / February 14th – RALPH LAWSON (Back2Basics, 20/20 Vision, UK)
Ralph Lawson is resident DJ at world renowed club, Back2Basics in Leeds. Ralph also co-owns one of the most well respected record labels in the music industry, 20/20 Vision. Ralph will be making his Waterford debut in the Loft for Re:Publik.
Re:Publik / February 21st – OLIVIER DESMET
(Amenti Music, USA)
Olivier Desmet, born in Belgium but currently lives in San Francisco, runs Amenti Music, one of the most respected imprints in the business. Olivier is also co-owner and full time buyer for Primal Records.com, an established online record shop. With over 50 productions & remixes behind him, Olivier is a big name in the underground house scene releasing mix CDs on OM Records with Inland Knights. Again, this will be another Waterford debut for an international Dj.
Resistance / February 28th – JUSTIN ROBERTSON
(Lionrock, UK)
Justin Robertson should need no introduction, one of the pioneers of dance music of the 90’s with his Lionrock guise. With classic anthems like “Packet of Peace”, Justin was one of the original superstar Djs. Playing to thousands of people weekly including a now famous set at Creamfields Ireland. Still touring the world DJ’n, Justin makes a welcome return to Waterford.
Electric Circus / March 7th – TECHNASIA (Sino, France)
Charles Siegling, musician and DJ based in Paris is one half of the Technasia project. Technasia have built their notoriety with acclaimed tracks such as ‘2 The Floor’, ‘Descent’, ‘Future Mix’, ‘Hydra’, ‘Force’ or ‘Final Quadrant’ and starting residencies in popular electronic music clubs such as Fuse in Brussels and Nitsa in Barcelona amongst others.
Re:Publik / March 14th – FISH GO DEEP (Ork Recordings)
Regular visitors to Waterford, FISH GO DEEP received major success with their album Lil’ Hand. Greg & Shane always play to a packed crowd in Waterford which prove how much fans they have here. This year, celebrating 20 years in the music industry FGD have played countless gigs all over Ireland & the world.
Electric Circus / March 21st – STEVE RACHMAD
(Music Man, Amsterdam)
Steve Rachmad is a Dutch techno producer, DJ and remixer. By many, he is considered a father of Detroit techno in the Netherlands, respected in the world of electronic music for his deep, groovy sounds that tend to rest on impressive strings, melodies, funk and soul. His career has been reaching its highest peaks from 1996 up to the present time. Yet, it is somewhat less known that he has been in the music realms for over 25 years by now.

HARRI (Sub-Club, Glasgow)
Harri is best known for his long running residency at Sub-Club, Glasgow, started with long time friends Slam. It was here he established himself as one of the most influential DJs in Britain. Nearly 20 years later, Harri is still playing week in week out a the legendary club. With many releases over the years, his most recent ep was on Nordic Trax (Canada).
The recession may be here but doesn’t mean you cant have fun, and all for just 10euro each night.
Recession Sessions kick start on Saturday January 24th with ATJAZZ at The Loft, Electric Avenue, John St, Waterford.
