Smash hits and Jam Tarts
Electric Avenue has lined up it’s two most consistently entertaining acts for Easter Weekend, to maximise your dancing pleasure for the Bank Holiday weekend. On Saturday 3rd April SMASH HITS return with their brilliant high energy 90s dance/pop/r’n’b live show, and on Sunday 4th April the 7 piece Jam Tarts Orchestra bring their exclusive residency back to the Avenue.
SMASH HITS are bringing the FUN back to Saturday nights and became the Irish entertainment phenomenon of 2009. This 6 piece Dublin band established their reputation with a residency at Dublin hot spot Tripod, followed by brilliant performances at the Oxygen and Electric Picnic festivals last summer. The Smash Hits formula is very simple; fully decked out in 90s gear they perform a fun filled and high energy set of 90s dance, pop and R’n’B chart classics from the likes of Technotronic, N-Trance, Culture Beat, Dr. Alban, MC Hammer, Snap, C+C Music Factory, Vanilla Ice and many more. It’s a throwback to the FEELGOOD time of old skool nightclub DJs, all night raves and packed out dancefloors, so grab your bum bag, bleach the tips of your hair and totally check out Smash Hits, who return to Electric Avenue this Easter Saturday, 3rd April.
Whoever came up with the phrase “Less Is More” was wrong ! The Jam Tarts Orchestra was formed last year when someone came up with the simple but brilliant idea of putting all 7 of the Jam Tarts’ roving members on the same stage at the one time. Their monthly residency at Electric Avenue in 2009, saw a capacity crowd at every gig and a feel good factor that would be worth millions if you could only bottle it. The JT Orchestra return to the Avenue this Bank Holiday Sunday, 4th April for a live gig that will thrill you with the incredible energy of the performance and the fantastic song selection, which takes in everything from Sinatra to Pixies, The Cure to The Violent Femmes and The Smiths to Michael Jackson.
